Wardogs

What have I done? £36 on a early access game….

Oh dear.  As Britney once squawked “Oops I’ve done it (again)”.  What have I done?  And was I wearing a tight red PVC outfit whilst doing it?  Well I was dressed normally, but I’ve done something very uncharacteristic for me.  I’ve  gone all in and bought a game in early access for £36.99!!!  Whilst my wallet recovers, let me explain why.  I love military shooters but could never get into Arma 2 or 3.  COD was great, I especially loved Warzone but the constant balance changes along with it become very Fortnitey with cosmetics meant I slowly drifted away.  Battlefield 4 was great but could never get into the later iterations.  On paper Wardogs offers what I want.  A fun 100 player multiplayer military sim.  And 1.25 million copies sold mean it must be solid, surely?

So hyped up I bought a copy on Steam and downloaded the game.  Initial impressions from the tutorial were good.  The gunplay and mechanics seemed solid.  I was happy.  Then I entered my first game.  I spawned, loaded up with equipment and hopped into a helicopter were a helpful pilot offered to take me to out forward base.  Before landing I managed to fall out of the helicopter and had to be revived on the base roof.  Fine.  I then fell off the roof and had to be revived again with a kid shouting “What are you doing Daddy?” in proximity chat.  I then had to finish my game for dinner….
