About  Me

Greetings and welcome to my little corner of the internet!

I’m DadGamerUK, a (nearly) 50-year-old guy with a gorgeous wife, two great kids, one naughty spaniel and a lifelong love of games.

I’ve put this website together as a passion project, a place to document and preserve my thoughts and experiences with gaming.   In the grand scheme of things it probably does not matter much! But it matters to me, and I’d love to leave something behind that captures my journey through this wonderful hobby.

My gaming history

It all started way back in the early 80s and I largely missed the mid-90s console golden age, so don’t expect Megadrive nostalgia. Consoles have never really been my natural home.

1982

Atari 2600

The beautiful wood veneer model, no less!

1983

Dragon 32

Go on, look it up!!

1985

Amstrad CPC 464

Home computing proper begins.

1988

Atari STE

The “E” is very important, trust me! Home of Dungeon Master.

1992

PC 286

All in on the PC. Upgrading every few years through 386, Pentium and beyond.

TODAY

Still PC

35 years of happy PC gaming. PS2, PS3 and Wii guest appearances aside.

FAVOURITE GAME OF ALL TIME

Dungeon Master

If you were a kid in the late 80s who enjoyed Dungeons & Dragons, seeing Dungeon Master was a dream come true. I first read about it in Dragon Magazine and was intent on getting an Atari ST just to play it. It felt like someone had reached directly into my brain and built a game specifically for me. I wasn’t disappointed.

BIGGEST GAMING REGRET

Never picking up a Gamecube

I absolutely love emulating its games, to me that console represents the absolute peak of pure, joyful playability.

Written reviews and general musings on games, often, though not always, paired with a YouTube video to go along with them.

So grab a brew, have a look around, and I hope you enjoy the ride!
